I think that if I had such an etch-a-sketch, I'd play wioth it all the time! (although I don't think all of the added thingies were necessary)

There's steampunk-functional, then there's steampunk overkill. This is the latter -- too much useless crap bolted onto the sides, and it takes away from what it actually is: an Etch-a-Sketch.

But, on the plus side, the workmanship looks to be good quality, and so do the parts, so I'll give it that.
