Media treatment of Steampunk
Captain Quinlin... — Thu, 10/07/2010 - 08:35It does appear to be interesting at least. The issue comes about in that we are all hoping for some good intelligent treatment of the genre in mass media, and it's not happened to date. We want it to be good, we truly do. I expect nothing more than window shade treatment of a club dresser. Not that the club "scene" is a bad thing, Steampunk is just so much more.
At best I at least expect a few more interested to show up at sights like this and we can really show them there's enough depth to get involved, instead of just the latest trend on a google search. Of course we as a community need to be on our best behavior, and guide them in the right direction. Luckily we almost always are. WE'll just need to keep them in the lobby and away the high explosives and the Farnsworth Fusors we're building so as not to scare them off. (Yes I jest) personally I'd love it if anyone coming in knew what a farnsworth fusor was.
Best of luck to all new and old,
Captain Quinlin Hopkins
By the by: Lady Clackington appears to have been an extra and provided a few of the outfits as well in the club scene. She's not difficult to find if you've the mind, just be aware that most links are considered NSFW.
Edit: Ive since learned that many from the Brassgoggles forum were involved. My hopes have risen higher.
Finally
