Has anyone done the storm-alarm thing recently?

Technogeek — Wed, 10/07/2009 - 16:00

I don't currently have a lightning rod (I have a huge chestnut tree which is far taller and more likely to get hit than the house), but I find myself wondering how one would set this up to both ring the bell _and_ be an effective lightning rod.

Small rod to ring bells next to larger one for safety?

Or is this another one of those "Ben got away with it, but don't try this at home, kids" items?
