Edison Electric Speedboats

Growing up near a lake, there were two types of boat people: speed-boat people and patio-boat people. As I sipped drinks from the comfort of a floating drunk-tank, I never really understood the appeal of speed-boats (especially on a lake without, you know, outlets).

Edison Marine, however, makes a damn sexy wooden speedboat. Not only that, but they make a damn sexy electric wooden speedboat. If you've never been out on a lake before, boats- especially speed boats and sea-doos- create a truly obnoxious amount of emisions. It's great to see an EV done so beautifully, and for the pocket-friendly price of $120k.

those edison boat look like old chris craft hulls with electric motors crammed in .... nothing all that new to me aside from the fact they are being produced for sale on a larger scale I am building a smaller and slightly more steampunk looking boat now at my parents house on the lake and while it will be full electric i am adding a small fog machine and a set of bellows to make it look like it even puffing steam ^_^ and best part i have a solar charger in the works for it aswell so i will have FREE to run fun on the lake

Around here we call those double-deckers party barges.

Great fun to watch them crowd the upper deck with all the drunk idiots on board and capsize it.

Those old wood hulls are great looking craft.

How about converting one to a steam powered jet boat?

I knew it was a repro but it still hurt to watch them chop one to bits in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Timber boats

They remind me of the wonderful slipper boats on the Thames, beautiful svelte timber bodies and whisper quiet, but they would never be so crass as to get up and plane.
